Taipei, Taiwan – October 22, 2020
ADLINK Technology Inc., a global leader in edge computing, has signed an agreement with Sageran Network Technology to deepen collaboration in developing end-to-end 5G Open Radio Access Network (RAN) solutions. The partners will establish a joint lab for developing integrated 5G edge solutions based on open architectures for public and private networks, offering telecom service providers improved vendor interoperability, enhanced innovation and continued cost reduction.
“5G RAN is the most critical infrastructure driving 5G network rollout. Building 5G RAN in a cost-effective, sustainable way is equally as important as delivering network performance for wireless providers. This is where 5G Open RAN comes into play,” said Julian Ye, ADLINK’s Director of Networking and Communications. “Integrating ADLINK’s leading commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) hardware with Sageran’s flexible 5G base station software provides an open architecture to build high performance, scalable 5G RAN solutions more quickly.”
The expanded partnership will accelerate the development of compact edge solutions needed for private 5G networks, and 5G-enabled solutions for industry specific applications such as such as vehicle-to-everything (V2X) communication and the industrial internet of things (IIoT).
The two companies have already developed one of the industry’s first highly compact, integrated 5G small cell set featuring ADLINK’s latest multi-access edge computing server series, MECS-7210/MECS-6110, and Sageran’s baseband unit (BBU) protocol stack. The 5G small cell set provides a convenient, cost effective 5G integration solution to deliver complete 5G network functions with OTII compliant and validated NGC-Ready hardware.
“Together, we’re accelerating time to market for 5G networks by providing the ease of integration needed with multi-vendor environments in new and existing network ecosystems,” said Komann Deng, CEO of Sageran. “Take our jointly developed small cell set for instance, this can be quickly deployed to build private 5G networks for smart manufacturing, autonomous driving and telemedicine. We’re committed to providing a high level of quality of service (QoS) in various applications and deployments.”
